RISE x stayMellow "Dreams"
Sounds from the UK
19/05/2025 | RISE x stayMellow, a collaboration between the musicians of the British band RISE and artist Sam Kinley (also known as stayMellow), presents their new single "Dreams," a powerful alternative rock track with an expansive chorus and infectious energy. The song fuses elements of hard rock, dark synthpop, and nods to '80s rock, achieving a sound that balances the classic with the contemporary. With heartfelt lyrics that explore human dreams and ambitions, as well as the lack of a clear path to achieving them, "Dreams" establishes itself as a motivational yet reflective anthem. Recorded at Whitewood Studios and produced by Rob Whiteley, the piece stands out for its powerful structure and its immediate ability to connect with the listener, cementing it as one of the highlights of the band's discography.
Originally formed in 1984 in Liverpool, RISE was an active band for several years before splitting up in 1989. After a 34-year hiatus, the band reunited in 2023 as a tribute to Steve Kinley, co-founder and original bassist, who passed away in 2022. The reunion featured Paul Kinley (keyboards), Alex Mahoney (drums), and Brian Petch (guitar), along with Sam Kinley as vocalist and multi-instrumentalist under the alias stayMellow. The Memories and Possibilities EP is a moving mix of old and new tracks, recorded in the same studios as their early days, where they have managed to update their sound without losing the essence of the energetic, technical rock that defined them. With plans for new songs in 2024, RISE x stayMellow are ready to write a new chapter in their musical history.
