Clocking in at a formidable 4'50'', the self-titled track "The Old Hag on the Mountain" by the Atlanta-based doom outfit is a masterclass in heavy, sludge-infused stoner rock. Driven by a massively crunchy guitar tone and a slow, relentless, martial rhythm, the track immediately evokes the palpable, foreboding tension of a brewing battle. Beneath this crushing weight, the band delivers a wild, passionate performance that weaves in subtle psychedelic and ambient accents, elevating the composition from a mere sludge anthem into a moody, dark, and highly experimental soundscape. It is an immersive, atmospheric experience that perfectly captures the ominous essence of modern doom metal, leaving the listener both unsettled and utterly captivated by its raw, sonic power.
