Steve Stout "Waitin on mine"

Sounds from the USA

06/07/2026 |

Hailing from the USA and boasting an impressive pedigree as the guitarist for Lifehouse, former member of Blondfire, and half of ØZWALD, Steve Stout delivers a deeply relatable and beautifully crafted slice of indie folk-rock with "Waitin on mine," a standout 4'02'' track from his upcoming second solo album, Sunday Stars. The song is a triumph of collaborative magic, co-written with and featuring M.C. Taylor of Hiss Golden Messenger—who adds his vocals to the choruses and soulful lead guitar—alongside a gorgeous, cascading piano part by Walker Igleheart (The Bangles, Melissa Etheridge). Lyrically, the track captures the bittersweet, touring-life reality and the universal, humbling feeling of waiting for a break, no matter how far you've progressed in life or your career. Self-produced with a DIY ethos, the song marks a deliberate step away from the lo-fi intimacy of his debut Dairy Made, embracing a bigger, bolder sonic palette that channels the laid-back, jangly spirits of Fruit Bats, Stephen Malkmus, and Kurt Vile. Ultimately, "Waitin on mine" is a warm, resonant anthem for the modern "ex-rocker, new folker, new dad" navigating life in Nashville with a Los Angeles state of mind, proving that Stout’s evolution as a solo artist is both deeply personal and universally comforting.
