Layer Cake "Numb"
Sounds from Australia
25/05/2026 | Clocking in at a breezy 3'06'', Layer Cake's "Numb" is a luminous and groovy gem that perfectly encapsulates the Brisbane indie-pop trio's gift for wrapping bittersweet intimacy in sun-dappled melodies. Blending the jangly warmth of folk-pop with the infectious energy of indie rock, the track navigates a delicate emotional spectrum—simultaneously happy, sad, and energetically uplifting—reminiscent of early Belle and Sebastian meeting the laid-back groove of Boy & Bear. The production shimmers with crisp guitars and buoyant rhythms, allowing the band's signature heartfelt lyricism to shine through without ever tipping into sentimentality. As a standout addition to their growing discography, "Numb" reaffirms Layer Cake's ability to craft deeply personal songs that feel universally relatable, proving once again why this Australian outfit continues to resonate with listeners seeking sincerity, melody, and a touch of nostalgic glow.
