Quarter Monkey "Miss Defied"
25/03/2026 | Quarter Monkey's "Miss Defied" is an intriguing and captivating 4'28'' excursion into chill psychedelic and indie rock that effortlessly warps a laid-back reggae rhythm with funky grooves and jazzy flourishes. The track features a vocal delivery that exclaims lyrics like a speech thrown into the wind—casual yet urgent—carrying a heartfelt plea to young women to defy societal norms and embrace community through growing and sharing food. This blend of relaxed, hypnotic instrumentation and socially conscious messaging creates a uniquely soothing yet empowering listen, perfectly embodying the band's ability to merge thoughtful lyricism with genre-bending musicality. As the title track from their recent EP, "Miss Defied" showcases Quarter Monkey's continued evolution since forming in Spokane in 2007, reaffirming their place in the Pacific Northwest's vibrant indie scene with a sound that is as rooted in grassroots values as it is in psychedelic exploration.
