John Cologon’s new single “Running from Shame,” out April 11, 2025, is a vibrant, theatrical burst of glam-tinged rock that channels the swagger of ‘70s prog-blues while tackling a deeply personal and timely subject: the self-sabotaging grip of shame. At just 3 minutes and 29 seconds, the track wastes no time—driving forward with punchy riffs, swaggering rhythms, and Cologon’s expressive, almost confessional vocal delivery. Blending elements of pop-rock immediacy with punk’s urgency and the flamboyance of vintage glam, the song reframes emotional vulnerability as anthemic defiance. Its upbeat energy cleverly contrasts its introspective core, offering both catharsis and a mirror to the listener.

This single arrives as a compelling follow-up to Cologon’s February 2025 album Seeking the Soul of the Universe—a richly layered, guitar-driven meditation on AI, existential uncertainty, and the search for meaning in an increasingly fractured world. While that album ranged from raucous rock anthems like “Artificial Mess” to contemplative blues such as “Lost Deep Within the Maze,” “Running from Shame” distills Cologon’s signature synthesis into a concise, radio-ready statement. Drawing from a lineage that includes Supertramp, Pink Floyd, and Led Zeppelin, he’s crafted a sound that’s retro without nostalgia, philosophical without pretension. In a global moment marked by social upheaval and inner turmoil—particularly referencing the current state of the U.S.—Cologon offers not just observation, but emotional clarity through rock ’n’ roll.
