Woody Gipsy Band "Corrispondenze"

Sounds from Italy

03/10/2025 |

Woody Gipsy Band’s “Corrispondenze” is a lush, cinematic journey through sun-drenched Mediterranean soundscapes, blending dreamy jazz intimacy with a distinctly Italian flair. Clocking in at 3 minutes and 14 seconds, the track unfolds like a quiet afternoon reverie—perfect for reflection, relaxation, or focused study. The interplay between saxophone and keyboard melodies conjures images of distant travels and coastal vistas, while the rhythm section—anchored by a superbly resonant upright bass—guides the piece with a gentle, Fellini-esque grace. Guitars shimmer subtly in the background, drums brush with delicate precision, and the entire ensemble moves as one, creating a warm, immersive atmosphere that feels both nostalgic and timeless.

Hailing from Italy, the Woody Gipsy Band has been weaving together swing, manouche, and global jazz influences since their street-performing beginnings in Milan in 2011. Now a tight-knit quintet featuring Stefano Ivan Scarascia on keyboards, guitarists Jacopo Milesi and Michele Ionis Rusconi, double bassist Tommaso Fiorini, and drummer Mauro Forester, the group continues to refine their evocative sound. “Corrispondenze” serves as a tantalizing preview of their upcoming album Tapas, set for release in October—a follow-up to their 2021 Live in Studio record. With its masterful balance of mood, melody, and musicianship, this track reaffirms the band’s gift for turning jazz into poetry.
