“Bite Into and Suck” by Statues is a raw, adrenaline-fueled track that pulls no punches, serving as a standout cut from the Swedish band’s limited 7" EP Lipstick on a Pig . While much of Statues’ discography orbits the realms of indie rock and punk, this EP sees them diving headfirst into their hardcore roots — and “Bite Into and Suck” is the clearest expression of that return to form. Clocking in at just over two minutes, the song is short, fast, and unapologetically direct, channeling the restless energy of late '80s underground scenes with a clear reverence for acts like Hüsker Dü and Sonic Youth.

The track feels like a love letter to the golden era of SST Records — brimming with jagged guitar riffs, urgent rhythms, and a lo-fi aesthetic that enhances its authenticity rather than detracts from it. It doesn’t reinvent the wheel, but it doesn’t need to; sometimes the best punk is the kind that remembers why you fell in love with the genre in the first place. “Bite Into and Suck” proves that Statues still know how to deliver a punch while staying true to the spirit of the scenes that shaped them.
