"Cancer Rising," the 1996 demo by UK-based band Nine 9, is a compelling blend of punk, stoner rock, and alternative rock wrapped into a tight 5-minute package. Hailing from Whitstable, Kent, the band crafts a gritty, groove-laden sound that’s as relentless as it is hypnotic. With Chris Clark on guitar and vocals, Jamie Godman on bass and vocals, and Martin Stedman on drums, Nine 9 deliver a raw yet refined performance that showcases their musical synergy and shared vision. Recorded at Elsewhere Studios, the track boasts excellent guitar tone and atmospheric arrangements, anchored by a rhythm section that’s both tight and driving.
