Phwoar "Reckless"
Sounds from the UK
Phwoar, the dynamic duo formerly known as "First Frontier" is back with a new name but the same unmistakable energy. Hailing from Birmingham, Helena on drums and Paul on guitar bring their "fizzy blend of indie-alternative-rock to life with DIY sensibilities and an undeniable knack for crafting catchy tunes". Both members share vocal duties, creating a seamless interplay that adds depth and character to their sound. In 2025, they’re set to release their highly anticipated EP "Flowers Through the Concrete", and if their latest single is any indication, it’s bound to be a triumph.
"Reckless" the second single from the upcoming EP, is a masterclass in infectious energy and clever composition. The track kicks off with a chromatic drop that immediately grabs your attention, setting the stage for a syncopated rhythm that feels both fresh and familiar. Drawing on post-punk influences and imbued with a strong British character, the song builds into a chorus that’s impossible to resist—a call to let go and embrace the moment.
The production of "Reckless" further elevates its impact, thanks to the involvement of Adrian Hall, whose impressive résumé includes work with Tori Amos, Nova Twins, and Depeche Mode. Hall co-produced the track with Phwoar, also handling mixing and mastering duties, ensuring the band’s vibrant sound is captured with precision and clarity.
