07/09/2026 | “Ways of Man,” a 3-minute and 9-second track by the Australian six-piece MFV, is a haunting and dynamic fusion of psychedelic rock, indie rock, and shoegaze that serves as the third and final single from their debut album, Melodies & Final Verses. True to their identity as alt-country outcasts, the band masterfully blends sinister, ragged, Crazy Horse-inspired guitars with the sweeping, wide-open country folk aesthetics of 1970s Laurel Canyon. The arrangement features a mournful viola that circles and scrapes against the distorted instrumentation, gradually swelling into a psychedelic crescendo that is equal parts beautiful and unhinged. Crafting what they aptly describe as "folk songs for the apocalypse," MFV uses this gripping, atmospheric sonic landscape to deliver their signature brand of dark murder ballads, tackling weighty themes of the occult, environmental collapse, and drunken cowboys with raw, apocalyptic intensity.
